Repton School seeks to appoint an outstanding Director of Drama to lead its vibrant, ambitious and highly successful Drama programme. This is a rare opportunity to take creative and academic leadership of one of the best‑resourced school theatre environments in the UK, including the award‑winning 315‑seat 400 Hall Theatre and the versatile Charlesworth Studio.
The successful candidate will be an inspiring and experienced theatre‑maker, confident in directing large‑scale productions, delivering high‑quality Drama teaching at GCSE and A Level, and nurturing creativity across a thriving co‑curricular programme. Drama at Repton stages three major productions each year, offering pupils opportunities across acting, directing, design, stage management and technical theatre.
You will be a collaborative leader with artistic vision, strong organisational skills and a commitment to developing young people through performance. Line management responsibilities include Drama teaching staff and a theatre technician. Repton offers excellent facilities, high‑quality professional development, accommodation as part of the role, and the opportunity to contribute to a warm, supportive and forward‑thinking boarding community.
The closing date for applications is 5 pm on Wednesday 4 March. Interviews will take place in person at Repton on Monday 9 March.
Due to the high number of applicants, it is not possible to respond to every application individually, therefore candidates will only be contacted if successful in the short-listing stage.
