Head of Vocal Studies - Full time Starting salary depending on skills, qualifications and experienceAn additional Responsibility Allowance is applicable to this roleRelocation assistance available as appropriate Required for January 2026 A well-qualified, inspiring and experienced musician is required to join our large and vibrant Music department as a full-time Head of Vocal Studies.
The Music department has 7 full-time and 35 visiting staff, alongside a Musician - Accompanist. Within the Vocal Faculty there are 5 teachers who currently deliver over 135 individual lessons each week. Currently we have a Symphonic Windband, Brass Ensemble, Saxophone Ensemble, Two Flute Ensembles, Percussion Ensemble, Jazz Band and in addition two Symphony Orchestras, three String Ensembles, College Choir, Lower College Choir, Choral, Gospel Choir, Chamber Choir and a number of Chamber Ensembles
The Head of Vocal Studies will direct College Choir, Lower College Choir, Choral and other vocal ensembles, teach individual instrumental lessons and manage faculty staff. The post holder will report to the Director of Music and work alongside other full-time staff, including Heads of Keyboard, Woodwind, Brass and Percussion and Strings. Ability as an accompanist may be advantageous, but not essential. The ability to teach a small amount of classroom curriculum teaching also forms part of the role. It is expected that the successful applicant will have a strong vision, experience of Liturgical Music, alongside initiatives for continued growth within the Faculty.
All teachers are expected to contribute to the rich co-curricular life of the College, but there are no residential duties.
