The Club has been in operation since 1994 and has recently undergone a major reconstruction boasting state of the art facilities which include: Indoor 25 metre, 6 lane pool, gym and strength & conditioning rooms, exercise studio, floodlit tennis courts, squash courts and two sports halls.
The Club is unique as it shares its facilities with the prestigious King's College School and therefore the opening hours are restricted to evenings and weekend (term time), with earlier opening hours in the school holidays. All profits from the King's Club support the school's bursary fund via Gift Aid. The bursary fund provides inspirational education to talented children, irrespective of background or means.
This is an outstanding opportunity to join the management team of the King's Club - an independent private members health club boasting outstanding facilities - set in the grounds of the prestigious King's College School in South West London, Wimbledon Village.
We are seeking an exceptional customer focused individual, with a hands-on / can-do attitude, ideally with a proven record in the premium hospitality or health club sector.
Club Manager Key Responsibilities:
• Operational Management: To ensure the smooth and efficient day to day running of the club, including all facilities, programs, staffing, and equipment.
• Member Experience: Deliver exceptional customer service and address members' concerns promptly and effectively.
• Compliance: Management of health & safety, risk assessment, safeguarding and compliance in accordance with industry guidelines and (KCSIE) Keeping Children Safe in Education
• Leadership: Staff recruitment, rostering, development & fostering a positive team-oriented work environment and leading by example.
• Program Management: To manage and grow all aspects of the club's coaching programs.
• Finance & budgetary control: P&L responsibility: Membership, programs, payroll, & generating new revenue streams as set by the Managing Director.
• Administration: To be responsible for maintaining up to date records for all aspects of the daily operation to include but not restricted to: payments, registers, payroll, internal and external communication.
• Club Lettings: To oversee the day-to-day commercial lettings of the club's facilities to external clients.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:- Experience as a club manager, assistant manager or in a senior leadership role within in the fitness / hospitality industry, responsible for P&L, payroll, membership, coaching programs and staffing.
- Excellent communication skills (written & verbal) for interacting with members, staff, and stakeholders.
- Leadership: Ability to lead, motivate and mentor staff. • Ability to promptly address and resolve issues whether related to staff, members, or operations. • Proficient in excel, word and managing club database systems.
- Be organized, methodical and attention to detail approach to processes and procedures.
- Previous experience in health & safety, compliance, audit and safeguarding.
- Flexibility: Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- First Aid and Lifeguard qualified (desirable).
HOURS OF WORKTo ensure the smooth running of the club it is expected that the Club Manager works a balance of daytime and evening shifts as directed by the Managing Director.
• 40 hours per week, 5 days over 7, including 4 weekend shifts per month
• Weekday shifts: 11:30 - 19:30 / 14:30 - 22:30 • Weekend shifts: 09:00 - 17:00 / 11:30 - 19:30
• Reduced Bank Holiday Hours • The Club is currently closed between Christmas & New Year.
TERMS & CONDITIONS• Salary £40,000 - £45,000
