Required from: September 2026We are seeking to appoint a deputy head of US universities from September 2026. The role will require working on the school campus for 2 days a week during term time. The postholder will also be required to work 8 days each year during school holidays.
This post will be responsible for supporting the head of US universities by taking a share of their regular and ad hoc work. The role description below is designed to be indicative rather than restrictive, and responsibilities will be subject to review and development. We hope the successful candidate will relish the opportunity to shape and extend our outstanding US provision further in the coming years.
Core responsibilities include:- Overseeing the organisation of the annual US universities fair in September, visits from admissions officers of US universities, and the SAT course
- Overseeing the overall support for every US applicant with their Common App and supplemental essay writing, and interview preparation
- Meeting pupils and parents on a 1-2-1 basis to provide strategic advice
- Supporting staff as they write letters of recommendation for pupils
- Supporting the head of US universities with the organisation of the regular US college trip
- Representing the US team in higher education events, such as coffee mornings and open days
- Any other reasonable duties required by the senior management team, the director of higher education and the head of US universities
Person specification:- A good undergraduate degree from a US higher education institution
- A keen interest in the evolving US higher education landscape
- An ability to work well with others, and to demonstrate initiative
- Excellent communication, organisation and listening skills
- Prior experience in a secondary school environment and advising applicants to US universities.
