Join a vibrant Art Department where you’ll guide pupils to develop confident artistic practice, critical thinking and inspiring creative pathways.
From September 2026, you will join a dynamic and values‑led community that blends academic ambition with a rich creative culture. Located in Crowthorne, Berkshire, our 400 acre estate provides a distinctive and inspiring place to work. This maternity cover role offers the chance to contribute to a collaborative department where creativity, curiosity and independence are nurtured every day.
As a Teacher of Art & Photography, you will help pupils develop strong practical skills, thoughtful critical engagement and well‑resolved creative outcomes across a range of media. Working within a busy and collaborative Art School, you will support pupils as they explore ideas, refine their practice and develop portfolios that reflect their individual strengths and aspirations. Your teaching will nurture technical skill and personal expression, while encouraging pupils to take creative risks and think independently.
The department’s vibrant studio culture, extended access and strong exhibition programme provide a stimulating environment in which pupils are encouraged to work ambitiously. As part of the teaching team, you will contribute to this activity by engaging in discussion‑based learning, modelling reflective practice and helping pupils build confidence in both Fine Art and Photography. You will also play a role in preparing pupils for internal assessments and future creative pathways, ensuring they feel supported academically and pastorally.
Life at Wellington extends beyond the classroom, and you will take an active part in the wider College community. This may include co‑curricular involvement, supporting House activities and contributing to the rhythms of a busy boarding and day environment. You will also participate in professional development, collaborating with colleagues and continuing to develop your own creative or pedagogical expertise.
This fixed‑term role is ideal for someone who brings passion, enthusiasm and a reflective approach to their teaching. Whether experienced or early in your career, you will join a department that values innovation, collaboration and a genuine love of the visual arts.
