Lift Sir Herbert Leon Leisure Centre, part of Lift Schools, is looking for enthusiastic and committed Lifeguards to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to help create a safe, welcoming and enjoyable environment for all visitors using our facilities.
About the Role As a Lifeguard, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all users of our swimming pool and leisure facilities. You will be responsible for carrying out lifeguarding duties, maintaining high standards of health and safety, and supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the centre.
You will also help promote community participation in leisure activities and contribute to Lift Schools'mission that every child receives an excellent education, in every classroom, every day.
Key Responsibilities - Carry out lifeguarding duties and maintain constant vigilance around the swimming pool and surrounding areas.
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all visitors by following operating procedures and safety regulations.
- Complete daily safety and maintenance checks.
- Welcome and support community groups and customers using the facilities.
- Support the Leisure Centre Manager in increasing community participation and engagement.
- Maintain up-to-date lifeguard qualifications and training requirements.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the leisure centre operates effectively.
- Follow all Lift Schools policies, safeguarding procedures, and health and safety requirements.
- Undertake additional duties as required to support the successful operation of the leisure centre.
What We're Looking For Essential - National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ).
- Understanding of the role and responsibilities of a Lifeguard.
- Up-to-date lifeguarding knowledge and training.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, trustworthy, hardworking and self-motivated.
Desirable - Previous lifeguarding experience.
- Pool Plant Operator qualification.
- First Aid at Work (FAW) or Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW).
- Swim Teacher Level 1 and/or Level 2 qualification.
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4/C or equivalent).
- Experience working within a leisure facility.
- IT literacy, including experience with Google Workspace.
