We are seeking to appoint a yoga instructor To plan and deliver safe, engaging, and inclusive yoga classes for members of all abilities, promoting physical fitness, wellbeing, flexibility, strength, and relaxation.
We are seeking a yoga instructor to teach two back-to-back classes on a Monday from October 2026:
6:30pm - Beginners Yoga - 1 hour duration
7:35pm - Advanced Yoga - 1 hour duration
The yoga instructor will create a welcoming environment that encourages participation, supports member retention, and contributes to the overall success of the sports club's health and wellbeing programme.
Key Responsibilities:Teaching and Class Delivery- Plan and deliver high-quality yoga classes suitable for varying levels of experience.
- Adapt sessions to meet the needs, abilities, and fitness levels of participants.
- Demonstrate and explain poses, breathing techniques, and relaxation methods safely and effectively.
- Provide individual guidance and modifications where appropriate.
- Ensure all classes begin and end on time and are conducted professionally.
Member Engagement- Build positive relationships with club members and visitors.
- Encourage participation and promote the benefits of yoga and wellbeing activities.
- Support member retention by providing a welcoming and inclusive experience.
- Respond professionally to member enquiries and feedback.
Health and Safety- Ensure all classes are delivered in accordance with health and safety guidelines.
- Conduct pre-class checks of equipment and studio space.
- Monitor participants during sessions to minimise the risk of injury.
- Maintain current First Aid, safeguarding, and professional certifications as required.
- Report any accidents, incidents, or health and safety concerns in line with club procedures.
Administration- Maintain accurate attendance records where required.
- Assist with promoting classes, events, and wellbeing initiatives.
- Keep professional qualifications and insurance up to date.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
General- Act as an ambassador for the sports club and uphold its values at all times.
- Support special events, wellbeing programmes, and member engagement activities.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional teaching environment.
Person SpecificationEssential- Recognised Yoga Teaching Qualification (minimum 200-hour certification or equivalent).
- Current First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain).
- Appropriate professional insurance.
- Experience delivering yoga classes to adults of varying abilities.
- Sound understanding of anatomy, physiology, and safe exercise practices
- Knowledge of health and safety requirements within a fitness or sports environment.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to suit diverse participant needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and engage participants.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Professional, reliable, and approachable manner.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable- Experience working within a sports club, leisure centre, school, or health club environment.
- Additional qualifications in Pilates, mindfulness, meditation, or wellbeing coaching.
- Experience delivering one-to-one sessions and workshops.
- Knowledge of safeguarding practices.
