Are you someone who can step into a classroom and help keep learning on track? Lift Kingswood is looking for a Cover Supervisor to join our team and make sure every child gets an excellent education, every day.
We believe that learning shouldn't stop when a teacher is away. That's why we need someone who can step in with confidence, create a calm space, and help students stay focused. You'll be a familiar and trusted face in the classroom, supporting young people across all subjects and making a real difference to their progress.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals considering a future career in teaching, education, or youth work, or for those with strong classroom management skills who enjoy working with young people.
About the role
As a Cover Supervisor, you'll work across the school to support classes when teachers are absent. You'll help students understand their tasks, keep the classroom calm and focused, and make sure everyone stays on track. Whether it's planned cover or a last-minute change, you'll be ready to adapt and ensure learning continues smoothly.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver pre-prepared lessons to classes across the school in the absence of the teacher.
- Ensure students remain on task and follow the school's behaviour expectations.
- Manage the classroom environment to support positive behaviour and effective learning.
- Provide feedback to the relevant teacher about lesson progress, behaviour, or issues arising.
- Supervise students during non-class time when required (e.g., registration, breaks, exams).
- Follow safeguarding procedures and maintain the safety and wellbeing of all students.
- Assist with administrative tasks or learning support activities when cover is not required.
What we are looking for
You don't need to be a qualified teacher, but you do need GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English at Grade 4 or above. We'd also love to hear from you if you have A levels or a degree, or if you've worked with young people before, perhaps in a school or youth setting. Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to young people along with;
- Ability to follow lesson plans and deliver instructions clearly.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to use initiative.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
- UK right to work
We're looking for someone who can build positive relationships with students and stay calm under pressure. You'll need to communicate clearly, work well with others, and be flexible when plans change. Can you think on your feet and adapt to different groups and situations?
